Let’s Put Burnaby on the Soccer Map!

The City of Burnaby is a unique and special place. We’ve long been known for turning out amazing soccer players that go on to have impressive careers in the sport, but we’re one of the few regions that does not have a fully integrated club. That’s why we’re committed to building a better and stronger soccer presence in Burnaby. Formed by the amalgamation of five clubs with deep Burnaby roots, Mountain United FC, Cliff Avenue United FC, Wesburn FC, Burnaby Girls SC, and Burnaby District Metro Soccer, Burnaby FC will proudly represent our great city on and off the soccer field.

Still have questions?

Check out some of our FAQs:

Why are the Burnaby clubs joining?

Because together we are better! The 2023 amalgamation of Cliff Avenue United Football Club (CAUFC), Mountain United Football Club (MUFC), Wesburn FC, Burnaby Girls Soccer Club (BGSC), and the Burnaby District Metro Soccer Club (BDMS) into a new organization, Burnaby Football Club, allows us to provide a complete pathway for players of all ages, abilities, and desires for playing levels.

We are combining each club’s comprehensive technical and operating infrastructure which will yield a superior experience for the players.

Through the amalgamation and development of the new club, we will continue to work hard to create a soccer experience where youth gain the skills to stay active and healthy for life. This new structure will offer youth the opportunity to grow and develop through the Canadian Soccer Pathway.

Will the price of programs change?

Burnaby FC will operate with a pricing structure which aligns with providing best-in-class soccer experiences for all ages and stages of play. In many instances, 2023 fees will be similar, if not the same, to the fees you are currently paying.

Will the kit change?

The kits will be updated in 2023 and clubs will retain and wear their existing kits for the remainder of the 2022-23 league season as well as Spring 2023 programs. We expect all teams to be wearing BFC-branded kit by the Fall of 2023.

Will the coaches change?

All technical decisions related to BFC will be under the leadership of Kevin Julian (current CAUFC TD) at the grassroots level and Lee Tregonning (current MUFC TD) at the High Performance level. Kevin and Lee will undertake a review of all coaching under BFC with the aim of providing an aligned curriculum and philosophy while respecting the current coaching designations.

Will I still be able to play on the same Metro/Divisional team I am playing on now?

Existing teams will remain together for the remainder of the current (2022-2023) season. As players develop at different rates, some players may be moved up to a higher division and some players may be moved down to a lower division if it is in the best interest of the player’s long-term development. BFC is sensitive to maintaining current team rosters wherever possible.

When will the new logo be available?

The new logo was unveiled on January 16th, 2023.

When will the new web site be available?

Our new web site will be launched on December 16th with a landing page as a start. We will slowly build out the web site over the next few weeks/months and add information when it becomes available. We plan to have the site available for registration purposes as of March/April 2023.

Will my child’s subsidy carry over to the new Club?

Burnaby Football Club will honour all current club subsidy arrangements and will look to provide similar or improved structures going forward. BFC is committed to ensuring all children in Burnaby have an equal opportunity to participate.
