Player Code of Conduct U10 and Younger
Burnaby FC is committed to promoting positive, fun and an enjoyable experience for all children on and off the soccer field. Integrity and respect are integral to Burnaby FC values which are the responsibility of all coaches, players, managers, parents, and volunteers. We recognize our club culture is founded on integrity and respect for all. The Club Player Agreement outlines the expectations of players who are members of Burnaby FC.
- I understand I am expected to be on time for all practices and games. If I am going to be late or absent from a game or practice, I will notify the coach in advance.
- When I wear my Burnaby FC uniform, I represent more than myself; I represent the Club.
- I understand I need to listen to the coach and follow their directions.
- I will treat practice or game equipment with respect. I am expected to help the coach pick up equipment after the practice or game and help get it to a secure place alongside my coach and teammates.
- I will respect all Burnaby FC Coaches, Managers, Volunteers, Parents, Teammates, Referees and opposition personnel.
- I understand that winning is not everything. Whether we win, lose or tie, I will also do my best and demonstrate good sportsmanship and fair play.
- I will not criticize or make fun of my teammates, referees, coach manager, other parents, or opponents.
- If I need any help with issues or challenges within Burnaby FC, my parent and I will approach my manager, coach or the Technical Director to help determine a solution.

- I will not use PlayMetrics to provide feedback on a player, parent or coach or overall team performance.
- I will not hide any signs or symptoms of an injury. I will tell my manager, coach, parent or responsible adult if I think I may have an injury.
- I understand there may be consequences if I do not respect everyone. I know having fun is essential, yet also important is to be the best person I can be at Burnaby FC.
- I will use PlayMetrics in a positive manner.
- I will respect and follow any decision/punishment made by the Head of Discipline that is because of my inappropriate actions.
- I will use social media in a positive manner and follow the rules as outlined in the Social Media Policy.
BFC Player Code of Conduct (U11-U18)
It is a privilege to be selected to play for a team under Burnaby Football Club (BFC). Players are expected to always conduct themselves in a professional manner. Standards of conduct and level of player commitment are listed here and may also be posted with other supporting documents on the BFC website. Please read this agreement carefully. BFC participation and player registration is contingent on adherence to the Agreement.
Code of Conduct:
- I will learn and respect the rules of soccer and always abide by them.
- I will exhibit good sportsmanship and conduct myself with honour and dignity. Behaviours such as booing, taunting, using profane language, etc. will not be tolerated.
- I will show respect for all game officials and personnel including coaches and other volunteers.
- I will refrain from commenting on or arguing the decisions of officials during the game. I will not openly question the judgement or honesty of any game official.
- I will respect the coach’s decisions to do what is in the best interest of the team and not confront the coach at the game field.
- I will not use PlayMetrics to provide feedback on a player, parent or coach or overall team performance.
- I will use PlayMetrics in a positive manner.
- I will not use Social Media platforms to make negative posts towards a player, referee, coach, team, parent.
- I will use social media in a positive manner and follow the rules as outlined in the Social Media Policy.
Commitment and Performance:
- Commitment to your BFC Team is expected. Although we support multi-sport athletes and will work to accommodate player schedules, we do expect full commitment and BFC should take priority over other soccer-related activities. If you play other sports at the same level as BFC, we will work with you to resolve conflicts wherever possible.
- Players are expected at and will be on time for all training sessions, games, and events. Lateness will not be tolerated. If you cannot attend a session, game, or event you must email or call your coach in a timely manner.
- Report to your coach all injuries, special medical conditions (such as asthma), or extenuating circumstances (such as lack of sleep or family crisis), which may affect you. Injured players still need to report to training unless excused by the coach.
- Playing time and selection may be influenced by tactics, the opponent, or injuries but most often by player performance and attitude. Selection and playing time are at the discretion of the coach who may on occasion consult with the Technical Directors.
- I will serve any suspension, sanction, or pay any fine that is a result of my actions, whether administered by the League or Burnaby FC.
Division 1, Metro and BCSPL players must wear BFC approved training gear and or uniforms to all training sessions, games, as well as travel to and from any away games, as appropriate.
The following will not be tolerated and may lead to reduced playing time, suspension or immediate dismissal:
- Destruction of property or violation of federal, provincial or other laws.
- The use of drugs, alcohol, tobacco or vape products.
- Persistent irresponsible and disrespectful behaviour.
- Abusive language to teammates, coaches (including opposition personnel) and game officials.
- Bullying or harassment of any kind whether in person, or online via social media, text messages etc.
- Improper use of social media, abuse, harassment, molestation in any form whether sexual, physical, psychological, or emotional.
Failing to conduct yourself in a manner consistent with this Agreement may be subject to disciplinary action including immediate dismissal.
Please note if dismissal or suspension occurs while the team is away from home, the player may be sent home immediately at the parent’s expense by whatever means is most convenient for the team official. No reimbursement of any fees will be made to the dismissed or suspended player or player’s family.

BFC Code of Conduct – Adult Leagues
Burnaby Football Club (BFC) is committed to creating a positive and respectful environment for all individuals in our organization. This Code of Conduct outlines the standards of behavior expected from all members including players, coaches, staff, volunteers and spectators. Standards of conduct and level of commitment are listed here and may also be posted with other supporting documents on the BFC website. Please read this agreement carefully. BFC participation and registration is contingent on adherence to the agreement of these guidelines to foster a culture of respect, fair play and sportsmanship.
Code of Conduct:
- I will learn, respect, and abide by the applicable rules, policies and regulations of soccer for all applicable governing bodies which include Canada Soccer, League1, BC Soccer, WMSL, VMSL, BFC and any other governing bodies.
- I will exhibit good sportsmanship and conduct myself with respect, honour and dignity. Behaviours such as cheating, dishonesty, booing, taunting, using profane language, unsportsmanlike conduct, etc. will not be tolerated.
- I will show respect and dignity for all regardless of age, gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientations, religion, ability or other. This applies to all game officials, players, coaches, volunteers, and spectators.
- I will refrain from commenting on or arguing the decisions of officials during the game. I will not openly question the judgement or honesty of any game official.
- Players will respect the coach’s decisions to do what is in the best interest of the team and not confront the coach at the game field.
- Coaches and staff are committed to the holistic development of players, including their physical, mental, and emotional well-being. They will focus on creating a positive learning environment that fosters development and teamwork.
- All members are responsible for creating and maintaining a safe and inclusive environment. The safety and welfare of the players, staff, and volunteers are of utmost importance.
- All members will participate in open and constructive communication. Conflict resolution will be approached respectively and resolved in a timely manner.
- I will not use PlayMetrics to provide feedback on a player, parent or coach or overall team performance.
- I will use PlayMetrics in a positive manner.
- I will not use Social Media platforms to make negative posts towards a player, referee, coach, team, parent.
- I will use social media in a positive manner and follow the rules as outlined in the Social Media Policy.
Commitment and Performance:
- Commitment to your BFC Team is expected. Although we will work to accommodate player schedules, it is expected that players and coaches will be fully committed to their BFC teams.
