BC Soccer will be introducing the NEW Entry-Level Referee Clinic (14years & up) in January 2025. To received information about future course offerings, please fill out this form.
Details:
Once courses are published by BC Soccer and open for registration, please register early to reserve your spot. Priority registration will be given to Burnaby FC referees and members on a first-come, first-served basis, then remaining spots will be offered to others who are offered a registration code.
When you are ready to register for an available course on Ref Centre, or to be placed on a waiting list, please complete the following BFC form to request a registration code for an upcoming referee clinic (HERE):
- Small sided referees (who meet the age requirement) should be looking to take the EL course to upgrade their certification and enhance their learning and understanding of the Laws of the Game. Upgrading will allow younger referees to officiate higher levels of soccer, than those who choose to remain at the small sided level only. Referees who are keen to try new challenges as a referee or an assistant referee (AR), should plan to register.
- Full field referees are able and encouraged to referee small sided soccer as well, so those over 14 years of age can register for the EL instead of having to take both courses if they prefer.
Please note that all info and registration is handled by BC Soccer.
- Applicants must be at least 12 years of age to referee small sided games and at least 14 years of age to receive their Entry Level badge to referee full sided soccer.
- Registrants may take the course early but will not be permitted to referee until they reach the minimum age.
- Clubs can’t change age restrictions or help with registration issues except to refer you to the correct people at BC Soccer.
