It was a successful weekend for Mountain United FC with teams taking three silver and three gold medals at the BC Soccer Provincial Finals at Town Centre Park, Coquitlam.
MUFC’s 2006 and 2007 boys’ teams and the 2006 girls won their respective finals while three teams achieved silver medals – the 2005 boys, 2007 girls and the 2008 girls. The 2006 boys’ and girls’ teams will represent BC at Nationals in Moncton, New Brunswick, over the Thanksgiving weekend in October.
“I am thrilled to see the growth and progress of all our teams this season,” said Burnaby FC Technical Director HP (former MUFC TD) Lee Tregonning. “It’s always satisfying to have teams win finals and I’m looking forward to another great showing at Nationals and the continued development of our players.”
2006 boys captain Rio Yassin described his team’s success: “Our passion for winning was fueled by the support and confidence our coaches, parents and the club instilled into us. As a team, we also share extraordinary camaraderie, and it is this deep connection that ignites the passion we show on the field. When we step on the field, we are motivated not just by personal ambition but also by the collective goal we share, forcing us to give it all for one another.”
